Hi, I’m Maria G. Hermosillo, a sociology PhD candidate, researcher, and educator with interests in identity, place, and community.
My interest in sociology began with my own experience of seeking belonging and meaning while growing up in a small rural town in Nevada. It wasn’t until I took a sociology course during my first semester of college that I realized the discipline not only helped me make sense of my own life, but also sparked a passion for understanding the everyday world and our interactions within it.
When I’m not researching or teaching, you can find me making homemade dog snacks for my poodle Spruce, crocheting little animals, scrolling TikTok for too long, or listening classic dad rock.
